Scope of the Project

Compassion is a key value in many of the world’s religions.  Since the importance of compassion is shared by many religious groups, it is a point for interreligious dialog as well as a springboard for common social justice activities.  In this dissertation I will look at compassion generally and then compare the expression of compassion in Christianity and Buddhism. In addition, I will discuss the role that compassion plays in inter-religious dialog and some of the practical consequences of this key shared value in interfaith social justice projects.
